I haven't quite made it to the research part yet... that's 4th year if I choose to pursue an Honours thesis... What in particular are you studying about children? (This is one of my biggest interests in Psychology -- Developmental/child psychology!)

HBA Psychology is Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. It's a 4 year program and it equips you for the Master's level... most Master's level programs in Canada don't accept students who don't have an HBA (it's basically like a BA, but you need a higher average in all Psych classes to pass, so instead of 60%, it's 70%) I think it's a Canadian University thing :p They're stranger up here :p
