My Favorites
Music: These days: Bruce Springsteen, The Flaming Lips, Rufus Wainwright, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, k.d. lang, Joan Baez, Leonard Cohen, John Lennon, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, a couple of local indie rock bands... TV Shows: I like investigative dramas, like House and NCIS. And...Long Live President Roslin! Movies: I like murder mysteries, fantasies, political films and foreign films. (One good thing about being single is that no one complained about subtitles!) So far, favourites include "Italian for Beginners," "Les Invasions barbares" and "8 femmes," along with classics such as "Clue," "The Princess Bride" and LOTR. Books: Again, mainly murder mysteries and fantasies. Favourite authors include Robin McKinley, J.R.R. Tolkein, Jacqueline Carey, C.S Lewis, P.D. James, Kathy Reichs, John LeCarré, Tom King, and Margaret Laurence. Margaret Laurence's The Diviners is my all-time favourite. Quotes: "For well you know it's a fool who plays it cool by making this world a little colder." - The Beatles More About Me: My politics are left-leaning, sometimes centrist and sometimes radically left, depending on the issue. The Americans on this site would call me "liberal" or "very liberal" but that doesn't mean the same thing up here in Canada.
