If you ever want to visit Mexico, I highly recommend Puerto Vallarta. I did the canopy tour, there, and it was one of the most fun things I've ever done. We hiked quite a way into the jungle, after our bus had taken us as far up the mountain as we could drive. The scenery in the jungle is breathtaking. There are 13 zip lines. Some of them are extremely high and extremely long...you can't see the river, at the bottom of the gorge, or the other end of the zip line across the gorge. I would also like to visit Costa Rica for their canopy tour; that is supposed to be one of the largest in the world.

I'm thinking about going to Africa with my friends next year. They go with a group of volunteers, on a mission trip, every year to help build schools, roads, homes, etc. The photos I've seen, of the village residents and the appreciation and love in their expressions, make me want to go and help do whatever I can. I'm not sure I would be a very good teacher, but I do know how to build things and I'm really good at following instruction! :) For me, that would be a great adventure.

I spent a month travelling in Africa 2 years ago. I was in Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa. I bungee jumped by Victoria Falls, white water rafting on the Zambezi, camped in the bush in Africa and went cage diving with Great Whites.

I highly recommend going on a camping safari in Botswana- lions, hyenas an leopards walking right outside the tent!! The only thing between them and I was the mesh screen of the tent "window." One night I got trapped in my tent by an elephant, he was less than 20 feet away. It was actually a little unnerving, he could have easily killed me.

The cage diving was about 1.5 hrs from Cape Town, off the coast of Gansbaii near Dyer Island and Seal Island. If you ahve ever seen the videos of the sharks breaching, this is where it was filmed. I was actually on a boat with a guy I had seen on a documentary, pretty interesting stuff. THe water is unbelievabley cold. The sharks are much bigger than you would think they are, truly awe-inspiring being in the water with them (in a cage of course).

This winter I am heading to New Zeland to learn to climb glaciers, do more bungee jumping, swim with dolphins and sealss, hike the Routeburne Track, and hopefully kayak with whales. If anyone has been there and has suggestions for things to do, please let me know!!

Wow! Another person who has been to Zim! I was in southern africa in 2000. Beautiful. I was in NZ in 2002... lots to do outside around Queenstown. Milford Sound was lovely. I have a bunch of raft guide friends who have fun on the rivers there. I also have a friend who runs some crazy swing... gotta look into it.

Nice to meet a fellow adventureholic! Once a year I try to do a adventure out west. Over the past four years Ive done some pretty wild stuff. It depends alot on what your personal taste is. I love white water rafting so I look for places that boast big water stories. Category 4s and 5s are aalot of fun with Categorie 6 being the highest on the international scale. Montana is a prime target to hit if you enjoy this kind of adventure. Look into trips on the Middle fork of the Flat Head. Although rafting is a blast, it's probbably the biggest rush you'll get on the ground.

Sky diving is by far the biggest high you'll ever experince, without dropping acid. If you can find a place that'll do HALO jumps(high altitude low opening) go there. The higher you go the more free fall you'll have. Thats the best part. It's better than sex! Total weightlessness. If you want anymore advice feel free to give me a shout!

I'm not sure how much rock climbing there is in Vail, but, if Colorado is your destination, you may want to check out the Flatirons in Boulder or head south into Gunnison. Great climbing there as well. Happy travels!

This is a great question to ask! So far everyone has a lot of good ideas on what place to try. I am also an adventurholic and I enjoy going to new places I've never been to before. One member suggested going to Mexico. There is another city/town in Mexico worth checking out - Ensenada. There is a blowhole there, but you have to wade through the crowd of Mexican vendors to get there. If you're looking for a new country to explore, try Romania. I've been there twice already in the past two years and it's a delightful cultural experience no matter what season you come. Tulcea has an excellent archeological museum with lot of artifacts that date back before the Romans invaded that country. I've been to Victoria, British Columbia three times and it's also a wonderful place to go exploring. Buchart Gardens has an excellent display of planted flowers. The nice thing about Victoria is that it's easy to get to by ferry from either Seattle or Vancouver. Someone mentioned Costa Rica. I've been there eight years ago and I would love to go there again - just to see the antics of the wild monkeys. Seattle is another favorite of mine to visit. The Space Needle is great, but I could spend all day watching the International Fountain around the corner from the Needle. The perfect blend of water patterns and music is mesmerizing. Tucson, Arizona has a wonderful cactus park where there are many unusual and unique varieties of cactus to look at. Alaska is a good place to go to too. Watching the glaciers calving in is great, but nothing compares to visiting and walking on a glacier by helicopter. Hawaii is a very popular place to visit. I would suggest to avoid Oahu and go to any of the other island instead. My favorite is Kauai. I love watching the Spouting Horn - an extinct lava tube which spouts water when the tide is right and a wave comes in - similar to a blowhole. There's lots of places to explore in Kauai including a secluded area where you can jump from a 20 foot waterfall and swing from a rope into the pond. Great fun! I think that's enough ideas for now. I'm going to give others a chance to give their recommendations here too.

Set sail to the island of Manhattan. There be a local delicacy called "New York Pizza" which you can find at the locale shoppes. It is a joy to eat.

There also be a giant statue of woman there, if that be you're kind of thing.

I did the East African safari through Kenya and Tanzania three summers back. It was a trip of a lifetime that I got to experience with my father. I guess when I think of adventure travel I think of something a bit more roughing it than staying in luxury tented camps with running water and your own personal waiter and another one for beverage.

My first real adventure travel was last month when I did a classic backpacking trip through Lake Clark with a top rated outfitter that won awards through National Geographic Adventure Magazine. It was truly another trip of a lifetime. Extremely remote and worth the higher price tag.

NYC by yourself is an adventure! I loved it. Limit yourself to the buses and subways, no taxis.
