Did anybody notice there are so many posts on the other topics, but only a handfull on "success stories"? Is eHarmony really as successful as they claim? Just something to think about.

It was actually the first thing I noticed. I've only been here for 5 minutes and that is what stuck out. I'd like to think that hopefully the sucess of the forums isn't related to the sucess of the actual eharmony matchmaking, as one isn't required of the other, so it's possible that just not that many people who use eharmony also use the forums. I know I was almost not going to bother to come here, when I realized I didn't really have anything else to do until afternoon.

I thought the same thing! It is all in the advertising...show them what they want to see to bring them in :-)

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I've been a member almost 8 months and here's my stats: 8 months, 1700+ matches, 8 matches made to open communication, no dates I thought that people at eHarmony would be more serious about getting to know people and ultimately meeting a few. When it takes 200 matches to get to open communication with 1, you kinda wonder if it's not all about the advertising.

I have been on this site for only 3days and I don't know. I sent questions to guys and I am still waiting for a reply. How long should I wait before calling it quits.

I'm sick of looking at Shannon and Li when I sign on.

Not sure how successful it is, but I don't think most people having success would be posting on these forums.

I would have to disagree. Normally, people only leave feedback for customer service when it is BAD (waitstaff, poor vacation, crappy apartment, etc.). Yes, people will leave good feedback, but generally the people who have been dissatisfied are more likely to write about. *shrugs* maybe all the success stories are so busy being in love they dont have time for EH Advice anymore!

I am having the same problem. I have had almost 200 matches and only one open communication which started off with communicating everyday and now I am left to wonder is this is going anywhere. When I call eHarmony they just keep telling me be patient we have 240 marriages a day and it usually takes at least three months before you will find your perfect match. I do not think I could take 8 months of this and then when I read the success stories they provide most of the people state they were on the site for three years. I only signed up for one month to see what it would be like and I already sound like everyone else on here.

Any advice?

I give them 5 days, in case they are on vacation or traveling because of work, etc., then close the match. If they aren't gonna respond within the 5 days, I figure that is indicitive of how they would be in a relationship, i.e. if something I say isn't interesting to them, then they will blow me off.

Well l've got matched up with a wonderful man. We're 'going steady' now and going on dates and talking on the phone for hours, so this is the first time since meeting him that l've looked on the forum. The time just isn't there. So l think icedthi and tractable are right.

P.S. l wouldn't have met him if eH hadn't auto-renewed me. l was going to quit it because l was discouraged. Keep the faith :)

Hi all...

Your friendly eHarmony Advice Moderator here.

This discussion section was started as a repository for the Success Story Moderated threads that we started in January. We're just starting this feature back up next week, and over the coming months more and more of these success couple led discussions will be featured here.

This is NOT a thread that we promote on Singles as a place for successful couples to come and share their stories....though that would probably be a great idea.

As you can imagine, once two people find each other and fall in love, the last thing the usually think about is surfing around an eHarmony site. They are ready to move on with their lives. We do keep an archive with the thousands of couples we have, and we want as many as possible to share their entire eHarmony experience with you.

I, too, have been disappointed in the matches made. I know that some have been scammers and have called their hands on them. Needless to say, they closed me out. But why do they ask a mileage limit when they are making matches that are all over the country. I live in NC. I have had matches from NY to FL to west of the Mississippi! But I am really trying to keep the faith!

my husband and i were matched on 1/23/07 and married on 8/26/07. I obviously haven't been freqenting eharmony and didn't even know there was a discussion board...much less a success story discussion board. I joined in July of 06 and didn't get a lot of matches right away. I quit in August and then renewed in December because I was bored over the holiday. I got a lot more matches the second time. Even though it can be discouraging when you don't meet your soul mate in the first hour of signing up....it is way less discouraging that speed dating or match.com in my personal experience!!!! I am 35 and a doctor. The only men I met before eharmony worked at the hospital and the last thing I wanted was to try to have a relationship at work! It is hard to meet people anywhere else when you work 60-80 hours a week!

Seriously, give it time.
