What advice can you give for a short Istanbul trip. Say, 3-4 days. I can get there pretty easy and I'm thinkingabout going over a long weekend when there's a holiday.

Thanks!

I traveled Turkey a couple of years ago. I never rode the train but I will tell you to avoid the train. Use the bus system instead. I would not advise traveling overnight. Temps on the bus can be unbareable. Istanbul is a great place but full of tourists. You get hounded by carpet salesmen wanting you to buy some carpet for them. Most people in Turkey are incredibly friendly. Their are great places to stay near the blue mosque. If you have time check out bodrum and the ancient city of EFES. it's worth the trip. If you can travel back on the boats through Greece if you travel takes you that way.

I've travelled on the trains overnight and they are great-clean, comfortable and safe. Men are very machismo, but all are generally friendly.
