I believe that the personalized bottle of wine is the perfect gift to give. It's to soon to go overboard on anything.

I don't think he will expect anything for his birthday. If you don't get too extravagant, I think he will be pleased. If you do too much it will seem premature and possibly frighten him off.

Spend more thinking time than money.

I'd be embarrassed by a big present after two dates but touched by something little that related to a conversation I'd already had.

After six months of searching, I think I may have found a great guy to date. We've gone on two dates, and will be going on a third soon. I will refer to him as Mr. Wonderful.

Well, Mr. Wonderful has a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks.
Given that we haven't been dating for very long, I need help deciding what would be an appropriate birthday gift/date (i.e., What would you guys out there on the board appreciate as a birthday gift from a girl that you have only being dating for a short amount of time?).
You're dating me

I have a birthday coming up soon also. The most wonderful gift that I can imagine is that I will have someone with whom to share that time with.

You move a lot faster and share more information with your matches than any of mine have shared. I have never known the birthdays of any of my matches. Certainly not after two dates. I would say that at this point in your relationship that anything at all personal would be inappropriate. Since you know his birthday you could take him out for a nice dinner and / or an activity that he would enjoy.

Cycling and a picnic would be nice.
Or just a quiet dinner and a stroll, followed by a smooch on the cheek and a home-made cupcake.

I see many shoes flying toward me.

I would go with a light-hearted, possibly funny, card that you give to him when you see him (if it happens to be on his bday all the better). Something that is more along the lines of "I've really been enjoying getting to know you. Happy birthday!" vs. "We were meant to be together, from your one and only eternal flame." Of course, only you know how close you guys have gotten in the past 2 dates.
