He is. The living expenses he is paying for are the roof over his head, not hers.

The law is what it is. I can't change it, but since it is not possible to pay for two sets of housing, all that is left is not to have children.
If you honestly think that the money he pays me each month covers the mortgage, the monthly bills, food, clothing, etc. etc. then you are sadly ill informed. I'm sorry d-lion but this is something that has really gotten under my skin. What would you suggest?

I really don't know what women are typically awarded for child support....but what I'd consider fair is for the parent the children are living with to receive some financial contribution that represents the cost of the additional living space needed to house the children. This would mean the other parent isn't paying for the living space of their ex.

We need to stop with "mums" and "dads" and start talking about "parents". And you are an awesome parent.
sorry I am having posting issues--this is what I totally agree with. I misstated. It is not a mom vs dad issue but a main caretaker issue.

Women who want income need to work. Why is this so difficult for some people to grasp?
Why are you assuming that she isn't working?

I said generally not ALL. I know there are men who are the main parent but look at percentages and it is the women. You are the exception.

Gee, there is no stereotypes in there.

I think it is clear. Women think men are bad parents and men think women are money leeches.

The difference is you don't hear many men complaining about being stereotyped.

Now you have crossed the line! I did have until the economy tanked. I've been trying to make ends meet for the past six months. I have a job interview tomorrow after months of trying. You assume way too much.

I think I really need to leave this thread alone.

I'm not assuming anything. A person receiving funds from a prior partner is receiving income beyond that which they are working for.

Nothing in that implies that is the person's only source of income.

I'm sorry, I have only one answer (and it doesn't worl in hindsight), which is not to have children. That's the only solution I've come up with which fits reality.

I do not agree that people should be supporting ex-partners. As a matter of idealogy and viability.

I know men who are losing most of their pay (latest one is losing $2,100 of $2,800 / monthly income to the ex wife. That is not survivable. That does not leave him enough to eat. If daddy wasn't suporting him, he would not survive. How many ways do I have to say it? It is his income! She should get an effing job!)

This - and every case like it - is sufficient reason to never even entertain becoming involved with a non-self-sufficient woman.
