I had tried many other dating sites for years without much success. I would spend weeks talking through e-mail and on the phone with my matches, go on a date or two and never hear from them again. I decided as a last attempt I would give eHarmony six months. Luckily for me I only needed about two weeks to find Laura, the wonderful and caring woman who would eventually become my fiance and the love of my life.
In the nine months Laura and I dated before I proposed, we overcame more obstacles than most couples go through in a lifetime.

Towards the beginning of our relationship, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I thought Laura might leave me, but instead she stuck by me and has been there for me at every turn. I grew to love her even more due to her empathy and compassion. Then it was my turn to stick by her as she found out she had thyroid cancer. I have stood with her as she has undergone surgery and treatments. I have tried to support her as much as she has supported me. Luckily we are both doing well now and are ready to spend the rest of our lives with each other.
From the first time I saw her profile, I had a great feeling about Laura. We just seemed to have such similar values. We are both interested in devoting our lives to helping other people and making the world a better place to live, me through being a high school guidance counselor and Laura through her work with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Aside from our shared values, we also have a lot of common interests. We both love walking around the streets of New York City, exploring different neighborhoods. We are also both very laidback and really enjoy just curling up with a good DVD. After all that we've been through, Laura and I know that we are perfect for each other. We have eHarmony to thank for bringing us together. Together we have learned that love can conquer all!
