    Music: My taste in music tends to be a bit old fashioned but diverse within that scope. I don't like boring lyrics, synthetic instrumentation, or profanity. My favorites are the standards. Broadway musicals; Big Band; the Beatles; some Jazz Ella Fitzgerald; Nat King Cole; Gershwin; Vivaldi's Four Seasons; Puccini's La Boehme & Madame Butterfly & a lot of other classical music I don't know the names of; Billy Joel; Marcus Roberts; Simon & Garfunkel; Dean Martin; Caedmon's Call; Considering Lily's "The Pieces Fit"; Cole Porter; Edith Piaf; Harry Connick Jr. (but why does he try to act?) Scott Joplin and a lot of Motown.
    TV Shows: M*A*S*H; History Detectives; Jeeves & Wooster (and British comedies in general); Mystery series (like Nero Wolfe, Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple); Numbers; Friends; Ace of cakes; NCIS; Dog Whisperer
    Movies: It's a Wonderful Life; Classic movies and musicals Alfred Hitchcock O Brother Where Art Thou; Lord of the Rings; About a Boy; Under the Tuscan Sun; Groundhog's Day; The Princess Bride; The Royal Tenenbaums; You've Got Mail; When Harry Met Sally; French Kiss; Sleepless in Seattle (really anything Tom Hanks); Sense & Sensibility- the Emma Thompson one; The Natural; The Sting; Ocean's Eleven; To Kill a Mockingbird; Amelie; Cinderella Man; Seabiscuit.
    Books: Jane Austen; P.G. Wodehouse; Agatha Christie; Essays by E.B. White; Nero Wolfe series by Rex Stout; The Geography of Bliss: One Grump's Search for the Happiest Places in the Word by Eric Weiner; Children's books in general; The Lord of the Rings; The Case for Christ; The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey; The Bible; Real Sex: the Naked Truth about Chastity; How to get a Date Worth Keeping; The Five Love Languages: how to express heartfelt commitment to your mate;
    Quotes: In this world you must be oh so clever or oh so nice. For years I was clever. I recommend nice. - Elwood P. Dowd (from "Harvey");------ By the time you get around to what's left to be gotten, what's left to be gotten won't be worth getting, whatever it is you've got left. (White Christmas);------- "For me, the internet is just another way to get rejected by women." - You've Got Mail ------- "Remember, no man is a failure who has friends" - It's a Wonderful Life
    More About Me: I love reading and am a library geek. (Don't worry. I don't wear bifocals on the tip of my nose or put my hair in a bun.) I like writing letters and keeping up with people, going on walks and observing nature along the way. I enjoy gardening, hiking, swimming and watching movies and get a kick out of dancing in the car in traffic jams. Traveling is when I am at my most adventurous. And when vacation days are too few or my wallet full of dust bunnies, I love to travel vicariously. If you've gone anywhere, be prepared to tell me about it! I'm one semester away from finishing my bachelor's degree. After a short break, I want to go on to get my Master's degree in Library science so I can be a Librarian. My love for kids, history, German, archive work has me a bit torn about what kind of library I would like to work in. My other goals beyond my career would be to some day own and learn to play a piano. I would also like to one day have my own house, garden and dishwasher. (Truth be told, I think I want a dishwasher more than a husband! haha.)
