Right back at you, Pam! And I agree, there are some wonderful ladies on the board - it can really make you wonder sometimes what is wrong with guys! lol!! Happy Fourth!

I was in escrow when the real estate market tanked so now I read utility meters. Scary sometimes. I can't decide if being overrun by 20-somethings is real or in my head, but it sure feels like it. And even though I'm 44, I still find myself comparing myself to them. Gotta stop doing that!

Oh, and I almost forgot. We did "fail to renew" some teacher's contracts. A friend of mine was actively recruited by the district, so he moved here from the Pacific Northwest, only to be told there were no openings. So he was working in a manual labor job until he finally got in with the IRS. He was one of the lucky ones.

I stay as far away from the Strip as is humanly possible! Most locals do after a while. I either meet the guys I date online or through friends, since I'm one of about 6 or 7 women working with around 100 guys. They all see me as their sister, so sometimes they "have this friend..."
I think I'd be better suited for someplace like Montana or South Dakota.

Yeah, with all of the building that was going on, there were a lot of guys, but they are all just a mess. I hate to say it, but most I've seen either have substance abuse problems or never got over their ex. And I'm dating all types from car salesmen to steel workers to college professors. Argh! The housing market tanked a couple of years ago, which is why I end up fighting pittbulls for a living now. I think it's finally hit bottom and is just starting to head back up again, but it's going to take quite a while. We were #1 or #2 in foreclosures in the nation. Scary.

The "I Want a Wife" essay is a great one (as it says at the end, who wouldn't want one?). Still, there are some men here (and out there in the world, too, I assume) who seem to view a wife who stays home as "mooching" off of him and his pocketbook. Likewise, it astounds me when I see the view that time spent raising children doesn't have "worth" in the same way as a paycheck.
I've always thought it would be wonderful to have a wife like that (even is he's called a "husband"...lol).
Anyway, thanks for reminding me of the essay. ;-)
